Cider Targeting

Cider is famous for its fruity flavor and very easy to drink so is perfectly refreshing on a hot summers day.  A sweeter alternative to other liquors, cider is a popular beverage for many new or young drinkers. Cider has long origins, tracing back to Roman times. The first recording in reference to cider dates back to Julius Caesar. The non-alcoholic equivalent, apple cider, gained popularity as juice companies started to add the word to their labels. The popular fruit flavor in most ciders comes from apple juice that has been fermented, though many recipes have additional fruit ingredients as well. Cider comes in many different forms, such as sparkling or still. These ciders can vary in sweetness and alcohol content. The sweeter the cider, the less alcohol it tends to have. Semi-dry and semi-sweet cider contain 2% or more residual sugars with a stronger apple taste. Off-dry cider contains 1-2% sugar and tend to be more smooth. Dry cider has the heartiest alcohol and lowest sugar content, with 0.5% sugar and 7% or more alcohol. Dry cider inclines towards being a bit more acidic than the other forms of the drink.

Cider’s are varying shades of brown, skewing either lighter or darker depending on several factors, such as the addition of other fruits. No matter the difference in appearance, the same process usually occurs in its creation. Apples will be crushed and juiced. Yeast will then be introduced to the juice, which will go on to transform the sugars in the juice to an alcohol. After this process, the cider will be served or left to mature over the winter. Cider is best enjoyed chilled. The maturing over the winter means this drink is the perfect treat for summer. Across our managed publishers, we see millions of Cider searches each month. This provides a unique opportunity for companies that sell Cider like liquor shops as well as companies wishing to promote products that are served alongside Cider.
