VHS, 8-tracks, cassette tapes and, Flash. All of these medium need a player to work, and now – all of these medium are either dead, or dying. Just as CDs replaced tapes, and now digital files are making CDs all but obsolete, Flash is quickly becoming a thing of the past as HTML5 becomes the industry standard.

Just a few weeks ago, Google Chrome released a product update that will stop standard digital flash banners from animating on Chrome browsers.  From September 1, Chrome users will have to click on flash banners to activate the animation therefore significantly impacting the effectiveness of display advertising.  What does this mean for you? Simple: any Flash creative will likely not be seen by users.

Not to worry – there’s a simple solution. Building creative in HTML5 will allow placements to run without any interaction from the user, ensuring your ads are seen.

Here’s how it works:

What is HTML 5?
HTML5 is the latest version of HTML technology, used for the development of online content. It’s quickly become the industry standard and will ultimately replace Flash across the internet.

What are the Benefits of HTML5?
Unlike flash animation, HTML5 is compatible with all browser types and can be used across desktop, tablet and mobile advertising, specifically in Apple devices that do not run Flash.  Not only will it allow for better user experience, but it presents greater creative options.
