Do your Wine Ads feature your Winemaker ?

As wine brands strive for market share and some for increased credibility with consumers, it amazes me why brands don’t run wine ads featuring their winemaker. Most wine brands on the other hand run simple advertising of glamorized bottle shots with quotes from some half famous wine reviewer that none has ever heard of. As such most wine advertising usually looks the same, i.e. clinical and unoriginal from a consumer’s point of view.

So why not create advertising using your winemaker which is educational and encourages your consumer to learn more about a brand. It just doesn’t just have to be in the advertising as such, it could be your winemaker talking about a particular vintage or the vineyard challenges etc. How much more engaging is this, compared to a simple PDF of cellar notes which most winery brands develop and stick on their hard to navigate website.

We’d recommend using video to include your winemaker in your advertising and web presence. In terms of creative strategy there are a few paths when it comes to video that can be taken. The first is to use teaser video of 15 seconds or 30 seconds either in Pre Roll Video paired with a companion ad or in 300×250 in unit video placements.

The second path would be the destination of where you drive consumers to. A carefully developed microsite where the winemaker is featured in a series of videos from how the wine was made, or videos from the day of harvest through to the difference between one year to the next is much more interesting and once engaged with the content would inspire and motivate me to go and buy the latest vintage.

Have your Agency create deeper Engaging Wine Ads

Wine advertising doesn’t have to be boring and the same as your competitors. Try something new and create deeper engagement with your consumers.

The Gourmet Ads audience of grocery buyers is an ideal target audience of consumers to reach, as they make the majority of household purchases including wine, as such you needs to be developing and running wine ads.

Automotive Advertising is highly relevant to Grocery Buyers

Last week I was going through some Comscore information about sites within our network and was surprised to see a large amount of automotive indexes associated with our food sites. There a number of reasons why we see these automotive indexes appearing, particularly because the main grocery buyer actually drives to grocery store.

However, to explain these better, I thought I’d reach out to Luke Manion who runs the automotive ad network AdTorque for his thoughts and comment on why the Gourmet Ads Network reports high indexes for automotive advertising. ”It has long been a myth in the automotive industry that men make the majority of purchasing decisions. Recently Business Week said that the women’s decision-making authority has grown in part because more households are headed by women — 27% at last count, a fourfold increase since 1950. Their buying power has grown, too. In the past three decades, men’s median income has barely budged — up just 0.6% — while women’s has soared 63%. Automotive advertisers are desperately wanting to tap this valuable female market which makes Gourmet Ads such an attractive proposition.”

Therefore, any automotive products aimed at women will find our food vertical an ideal platform to talk with potential female buyers, however these areas make particular sense;

New Cars (Small, Luxury, Mid Sized, Van and SUV)

Navigational products ( GPS )

Service ( tyres, tune up )

Roadside Assistance

Reaching Auto Intenders with Automotive Advertising

So going back to the Comscore indexes, here are some of the automotive indexes which I found of interest, particularly to automotive advertisers;

200 Index for audience very likely to purchase a new or used vehicle within the next 6 months

803 Index for buying a car with lease online in the last 6 months

358 Index for buying auto parts and supplies online in the last 6 months

287 Index for buying automotive loan online in the past 6 months

643 Index for having bought a used car online within the last 6 months

1950 Index for plan to buy in the next 6 months a Large luxury vehicle

247 Index for plan to buy in the next 6 months a Midsize sedan/coupe

212 Index for plan to buy in the next 6 months a Full-size sports utility (SUV)

201 Index for plan to buy in the next 6 months a Full-size van

So if you’re in the automotive industry and looking to reach into new channel to drive sales, then Gourmet Ads can develop a digital media plan that will deliver your Automotive Advertising to auto intenders within our audience.

Automotive Advertising is a blog post from Gourmet Ads Food Advertising network, providing Display Advertising , Video Advertising and Supermarket Advertising solutions to reach the Grocery Buyer online.

Australian advertisers are geared to more effectively target food, beer and wine enthusiasts following the launch of Australia’s first vertical advertising network for the fast moving consumer goods industry.
Vertical ad networks are a collection of websites that function as a one-stop-shop for purchasing and monitoring advertising across multiple sites.

While there has been a growing interest in niche culinary sites due to the TV celebrity chef phenomenon in recent years, Australian chef and creator of the Gourmet Ads network, Benjamin Christie, saw a need to respond to the problem of attracting advertising to long tail, niche publishers, including blogs, in the food and drink space by developing a network that would be a “win win” for advertisers, media buyers and publishers.

The Gourmet Ads network offers media buyers and advertisers the ability to purchase advertising across multiple sites and blogs in one transaction.

Lachlan Brahe, Sydney and Brisbane managing director at Emitch, said: “I’d like to think that Gourmet Ads will get some traction with FMCG advertisers by consolidating a large grocery buying audience into a single, simple media buy.”

Christie said the vertical network, powered by Adify, provides online publishers with a viable alternative to Google Adsense or Affiliate programs which he claims result in little revenue.

Gourmet Ads sells display ads on a CPM (cost per thousand) basis which Christie said offers publishers a better return than the cost per click structure used by Adsense.

Brahe said online advertising spend for FMCGs is low compared to other industry verticals. “Online media represents around 4% of the total advertising spend for FMCGs which is low considering the opportunity that digital media affords an advertiser to reach a main grocery buying audience,” he said.

Christie added: “Larger media companies don’t want to deal with smaller sites and blogs which generate 50,000 to 100,000 pages per month.”

Brahe believes the network, which currently represents two million Australian pages per month, will attract advertisers.
